Weeks that are worth their weight in gold

You should receive this e-mail about nine weeks after your quitting date.

Hello!

It’s now been nine weeks that you have lived smoke-free. Be proud and keep going! We hope you’re still as determined as ever to stick with this life decision. It only has benefits.

You’re not alone in making this choice. You’ll appreciate the spirit of mutual assistance and support found in the on-line community of the Challenge site:

You are well acquainted with the tricks and strategies that have kept you on track up to now, so keep going in the same direction. Don’t neglect your pharmacological aid (patch, gum, lozenges, varenicline or bupropion), if you use any, and consult your physician or pharmacist to evaluate the situation if necessary. Remember to drink plenty of water, eat well and be active. Take care of yourself and try to keep a smile on your face!

Tip of the week
If you’ve not already done so, estimate the amount of money you will have saved in a year or even longer. You can use the following calculator.

Once you’ve done your estimate, dream about the various ways you could use this money. A trip? An investment? A new computer? Furniture? Sports equipment? The choice is yours! Write your dreams in your diary or on a sheet of paper, and post them where you’ll be sure to see them (on the fridge door, for example). To make your dreams even more concrete, add illustrations. If you are planning for a major project, be sure to keep your savings in a separate account where they’ll be safe from impulse purchases.

Amazing savings

Remember when you were out of cigarettes and you had to go out, rain or shine, to buy more. What freedom and what pride since you decided to not let cigarettes run your life anymore? And just think of the money you’ve saved!

Money in your pocket means lower profits for tobacco companies. And that’s great! Why? Find out more about this and you’ll no doubt be happy you’re no longer filling their coffers with YOUR MONEY …and YOUR HEALTH!

Other than the cost of cigarettes, you’ll enjoy other savings in your new life: lower insurance premiums (disability and home), lower dry cleaning bills, less money for medications and fewer trips to the dentist. Don't forget the money you would have spent on fragrance to mask the smell of smoke or on mints to camouflage ashtray breath!

Not only have you saved money by quitting smoking, but you’ve also saved time! All those lost minutes going out to buy cigarettes, lighting them, smoking them... Put them to good use now that tobacco is no longer stealing them from you.

Have a great week!
