ONE YEAR WITHOUT SMOKING!
WHAT AN HUGE ACHIEVEMENT!
CONGRATULATIONS!

You’ve made through every season: Christmas, your birthday, vacations. And despite the difficulties that arose along the way, you’ve stayed true to your goal of quitting smoking. What an amazing journey! How proud you must feel! To acknowledge your tremendous achievement, download, print and post this certificate.

This is the final message in the “I’m Butting Out!” series! You’re ready to fly solo, but you’re not alone:

  • Visit the Challenge site, at www.quitchallenge.ca, for information on how to join our friendly, caring on-line community.
  • Remember the 1-866-527-7383 helpline and the Quit Smoking Centre in your region (page available in French).
  • Consult a health-care professional who can respond to your needs: doctor, pharmacist, psychologist, dietitian, etc.
  • Stay in touch with your support network. It’s your greatest ally in dealing with tough times.

If you have kept a diary as part of the quitting process, keep using it to help you reflect and see where you stand. Read it to get a sense of the progress you’ve made in the past year: it’s guaranteed to motivate you to continue!

Why not help a smoker who wants to quit? You can even invite him or her to join the next Quit to Win! Challenge by offering to be a sponsor.

By sharing your experience, strategies and tips with someone who is just starting the quitting process, you will reinforce what you have gained. And you’ll be able to do so with understanding, respect and empathy since you are well acquainted with both the difficulties and the joys of smoke-free life.

You can also join the Smoke-Free Family program. It’s an excellent way to maintain your status as a non-smoker, to have your choice to live smoke-free respected, and to make known the advantages of this lifestyle.

  • Appreciate all the advantages of quitting and remember the disadvantages of being hooked on cigarettes
  • Stay positive
  • Avoid falling into the trap of “just one” cigarette
  • Take the time to relax
  • Eat well and be physically active every day… and enjoy it!
