The lowdown on average weight gainQuitting smoking doesn't automatically mean everyone gains weight. In some cases though, the weight gain is real: men gain on average 2.8 kg (6 pounds) and women, 3.8 kg (8 pounds). To avoid gaining weight, the key is to EAT WELL WITH FEWER CALORIES, to BE ACTIVE EVERY DAY and, ideally, to adopt these good habits before you stop smoking. It's never too late though: if you've already quit smoking and gained a few pounds, there is still time to change your habits. The important thing is not to light up again!
