  • Who is eligible?
To take up the Quit to Win! Challenge, you must be a regular smoker as of December 14, 2009, reside in Québec, be ready to commit to not smoking between March 1 and April 11, 2010, inclusive, and you must recruit a non-smoking partner aged 18 or over who is ready to support you. You must also register officially before March 1 2010, either directly on-line or by mailing or faxing your completed registration form. The Challenge is open to smokers of all ages.

  • Who are the Challenge organizers?
The Quit to Win! Challenge is an initiative of ACTI-MENU and the Prevention Division of the Montreal Heart Institute. It is produced in partnership with numerous public and private organisations, notably the Quebec Ministry of Health and Social Services (MSSS), the Quebec Public Health Departments (DSPs), the Canadian Cancer Society, Jean Coutu, Pfizer, Novartis and TELUS Health Solutions.

  • Where can I get a registration form?
You can register for the Quit to Win! Challenge on-line, directly from this Web site.

  • What is the deadline for registering?
You must register before March 1, 2010. On-line registration will be blocked as of midnight (00:00 EST) on March 1, 2010. In the case of mail registration, the official submission date will be the one indicated on the postmark.

  • If I register, can I quit smoking before the start of the Challenge?
Of course! There's no better time to quit smoking than when you are ready to take a step towards freeing yourself of tobacco addiction. You can stop smoking as of December 15, 2009. But to be eligible for our draws, you must abstain from smoking for the Challenge period, from March 1 to April 11 2010, inclusive.

  • Can I send in more than one registration form to boost my odds of winning?
No. We cannot accept more than one registration per person. Multiple registrations for the same person will be rejected.

  • Do you send a confirmation to people who register?
Yes, you will receive a card confirming that you are registered in the Quit to Win! Challenge at the postal address you indicated in your registration. If you registered on-line, a confirmation, along with a confirmation number, will appear automatically after you submit the registration form. You must print this confirmation and present it at a PJC Jean Coutu branch to obtain your free smoking cessation kit.

  • When will I receive my card or email confirming my registration in the Challenge?
It should take up to three weeks to receive your confirmation card by mail from the time you register for the Challenge. The card allows you to obtain your free smoking cessation kit at PJC Jean Coutu branches. For online registrations, your confirmation appears automatically on-line.

  • Can I quit smoking even if don't have my support kit yet?
Of course! The kit is not the starting signal. It's one tool among others to help you quit smoking. We encourage you to pick up yours as soon as possible, but don't wait for it to take action. If you feel the symptoms of withdrawal before you have the kit, think of your other resources: your partner, your pharmacist, the support line 1 866 527-7383, the smoking cessation centres, and, of course, this Web site.

  • Can I get a quit kit if I'm not registered for the Challenge?
No, the quit kit is offered only to people who registered for the Challenge. The kit is free and cannot be purchased or otherwise obtained, other than in exchange for the registration confirmation card or email.

  • Starting on what date are the kits available at Jean Coutu pharmacies?
Kits are available beginning January 4, 2010, at all PJC Jean Coutu branches. Make sure you have your printed registration confirmation with you when you go.

  • I couldn’t get my kit at Jean Coutu, even though I’d written my confirmation number down on a piece of paper. What can I do?
You have no choice but to present your official confirmation slip, which was displayed onscreen when you registered and which you received by e-mail. If you neglected to print it, you can go back to your registration file at QuitChallenge.ca. If you registered by using the paper form, you will shortly be receiving the confirmation card in the mail.

  • Can you send me my kit by mail, or send a number of kits to my company?
No. Kits are available only at Jean Coutu pharmacies, on presentation of the registration confirmation.

  • The Challenge seems to be intended for adults only (18 and over). Is there a challenge for teenagers?
The Quit to Win! Challenge is open to everyone, of whatever age. In the case of registration with a sponsor, the sponsor must necessarily be 18 or over. For registration with a teammate, age is of no importance.
