FAQ

Support

  • What support do you offer to people registered for the Challenge?
When you register for the Challenge, several free forms of support are available.

First, you can choose to receive our series of encouraging e-mails providing tips and encouragement for people quitting smoking that will be sent to you based on the date you stop smoking over a one-year period.

You will also find on the QuitChallenge.ca website quite a bit of information on cessation aids and on the harm that cigarettes do, but most of all you’ll have access to your participant's file.

You can also call the Ligne j’Arrête helpline (1-866-527-7383, bilingual counselors available) or visit a Quit-Smoking Centre to get information or support suited to your needs.

And don’t forget – beginning January 4, 2012 – to pick up your free support kit by visiting a PJC Jean Coutu branch with your Challenge registration confirmation. In addition to your physician, pharmacists are also invaluable advisors. For example, they can help identify the methods that’ll make it easier for you to succeed in giving up smoking.

  • Once the Challenge is over, are there any support activities for the people who were registered?
The QuitChallenge.ca Web site will remain on-line all year so you can check it anytime. What's more, the support line 1 866 527-7383 and your local Quit-Smoking Centre are permanent services that you can call anytime after the Challenge.

  • How can I get material for encouraging myself or for encouraging other people to quit smoking?
You can download documents on the Tools to download page.

  • How long after my registration will I start receiving encouraging e-mails, and how often?
You’ll receive your first encouraging e-mail two weeks before the quitting date you choose when you register. After that, e-mails will be sent to you every week for the first 4 months, then once a month up to one smoke-free year. E-mailing ends after one year.
